After Delta CEO Ed Bastian’s comments calling Georgia’s recently passed bill on election integrity voting bill  “unacceptable” and “wrong,” claiming that it will “make [voting] harder for [Black] voters,” the Republican House swiftly moved into action.

The Georgia House voted to repeal a major tax break that saves Delta tens of millions of dollars annually this week. This move was done in a clear rebuke of Delta Airlines, as described by Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, who said “they like our public policy when we’re doing things that benefit them… You don’t feed a dog that bites your hand. You got to keep that in mind sometimes.” The Georgia Senate moved to shoot down the provision that would hold Delta accountable, a move that frustrated many conservatives.

These attacks on our democracy have not only come from woke corporations, but from the White House as well. Joe Biden called Georgia’s recent voter integrity reform “Jim Crow in the 21st Century,” despite his home state of Delaware having far stricter measures for voting, including strict requirements on who can vote by mail as well as a ban on early voting entirely.  Biden also expressed that he entirely supports Major League Baseball’s threat to move the All-Star game away from Georgia in retaliation to the law’s passage.

Responses to these various threats against voter integrity laws are a great representation of two large factions within the Republican Party: those who bow to corporate pressure, and those who refuse. As major corporations continue to bow down to the demands of woke activists in the Democrat Party, Republicans will have no choice but to challenge the various political privileges that are regularly granted to powerful corporations.
